The Pro version of VisiWave comes with a Navigation Unit that automatically keeps track of your location as you collect survey data. You can think of the Navigation Unit as a fancy pedometer and compass; it tracks your movements and translates them into a virtual location on your floor plan image. Since our product needs to work indoors as well as outdoors, the Navigation Unit does not use GPS (which only works outside with line-of-sight to GPS satellites).
Collecting wireless site survey data is not enough. You need to also be able to analyze that data. VisiWave Site Survey Report is the tool that is needed to unlock the mountain of survey data collected during a site survey.
The following items are included in this package:
This software application runs on a Pocket PC handheld computer and is responsible for collecting the survey information in the field.
This software application runs on a Windows laptop or desktop computer and allows you to view the results of the wireless site survey.
This is a hardware device that the site surveyor wears on his/her belt to electronically keep track of the user's location within the survey area.
The serial connector on the Navigation Unit is an RS-232, 9-pin, female connector. When ordering, you need to indicate what you will be connecting the Navigation Unit to so the correct converter cable can be provided.
Connecting to:
Most supported HP iPAQs have a 22-pin serial or USB connector located on the bottom of the Pocket PC. If this is the case for your Pocket PC, select this option.
The Compaq h3700 models of Pocket PCs have a 12-pin connector on the bottom of the unit. If you have a 37xx series Pocket PC, select this option.
If your Pocket PC isn't an HP iPAQ but you have the ability to connect standard RS-232 serial devices to it, select this option.
Each purchase includes free support for the lifetime of the product. Support includes email and call-back technical support along with free access to maintenance releases (release where only the third number in the version number changes).
If for any reason you are not satisfied with the VisiWave Site Survey Pro product, you can return it for a refund within 30 days of receipt of the product. The refund will not include a 10% restocking fee, any shipping or handling fees, or any taxes/fees not directly collected by the Company. It must be in original condition including original packaging. And you must have a Return Merchandise Authorization number from AZO Technologies. The product must be returned to AZO Technologies at your expense and responsibility. Note that only products that have a required hardware component such as VisiWave Site Survey Pro can be returned for a refund.
The report and analysis software is run on a laptop or desktop PC running Microsoft Windows 2000/XP. A minimum of an 800MHz Pentium III (or equivalent) with 128MB of RAM, 800x600 display resolution, Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or later, and 20MB of available disk space is recommended for best performance. This laptop or desktop PC requires a means of transferring files from the Pocket PC to the PC. This is usually done using either an ActiveSync cradle, Infrared Port, or wireless Ethernet.
Viewing the user's guide requires a PDF viewer application such as Adobe's Acrobat Reader or FoxIt Software's FoxIt Reader. Also, site survey reports generated in the PDF format require a viewer to be viewed. You can optionally generate reports in HTML format which do not require this viewer. To download Adobe Acrobat Reader, visit Adobe's Web site at: http://www.adobe.com/. To download FoxIt Reader, go to http://www.foxitsoftware.com/.
An iPAQ Pocket PC running Pocket PC 2002 or Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003/2005 with 64MB of RAM or more. Supported models include rz17xx, h2210, h37xx, h38xx, h39xx, hx47xx, h51xx, h54xx, and h55xx. Note that models h4100, h4300, and h6300 do not support serial connections so they are not supported. Other iPAQ models or non-iPAQ Pocket PCs may work. Contact VisiWave for further information.
A supported PC Card, Secure Digital, Compact Flash, or integrated wireless network adapter is required. A free utility called VisiWave CheckAdapter is available for download. This utility tests your wireless adapter to see if it is supported.
View a partial list of support adapters. In some cases, the latest drivers from the adapter manufacturer may be required.
You will need a "top view" or "bird's eye view" of the survey area. This image can be in GIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or Windows BMP format. If you currently have a CAD drawing of your area, most CAD programs can export a floor plan view in JPEG format. Or, you can scan in a paper-version of your floor plan. Or, you can take a digital picture of a floor plan sign, such as a building directory or the fire-escape map found on the back of hotel room doors. In the worst case, you can create a rough drawing by hand of the walls of the area being surveyed. If you are surveying an outside area, you can use screen captures of any of the many online mapping services or scanned in images of printed maps.
This USB device is required in order to collect spectrum (interference) data using VisiWave. It is sold separately and is available directly from MetaGeek, LLC by visiting http://www.metageek.net.
If you are using a Pocket PC to collect your survey data and you are using a PC Card (PCMCIA) wireless adapter, you will need this iPAQ accessory. The expansion sleeve fits most full-sized iPAQ Pocket PCs (including models h37xx, h38xx, h39xx, h51xx, h54xx, and h55xx). It allows a wireless network PC Card to be connected to the Pocket PC. The HP part number for this accessory is FA116A#AC3 (or the older single slot expansion sleeve with part number FA120A or the Compaq version with part number 249708-B21). Warning: Some slim or low profile Pocket PCs from HP do not support this accessory.
